3 people, including young child, rescued from burning Boston home

BOSTON — Two adults and one child were rescued from a raging house fire that broke out overnight in Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood.

Firefighters responding to a report of a blaze on Brookview Road around 3:00 a.m. found residents trapped on the second floor of a wood-frame home, according to the Boston Fire Department.

Crews had to use a ladder to rescue the adults and a six-year-old child, as well as a cat. Boston Deputy Fire Chief Scott Malone told Boston 25 News that if it wasn’t for firefighters climbing up to help the people escape, they wouldn’t have made it.

“They were trapped, they were hanging out the window because the fire was so involved in front of the building, they were hanging out the window basically for air,” Malone said.

The two adults and child were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

There were two other adults who lived in the home, but they weren’t inside at the time. Four adults and one child in total were displaced by the fire.

The Red Cross will be helping them find housing.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
