EXETER, N.H. — Commuters are being warned of lengthy delays after an individual was struck and killed by an Amtrak train in New Hampshire on Thursday.
According to police, the pedestrian was struck in the area of the railroad tracks on Front Street in Exeter, according to the Exeter Police Department.
UPDATE: The Exeter Police Department in conjunction with Amtrak Police are investigating a fatality in the area of the tracks on Front Street. A photo from the scene showed a Downeaster train stopped on the tracks and several police cruisers parked nearby.
In a tweet, Amtrak Northeast said, “Downeaster Train 681 is currently stopped south of Exeter due to a trespasser incident in the area. A lengthy delay is expected.”
Police say Front Road is expected to be shut down “for some time.”
