Emergency transmissions shed new light on morning of Kurt Solomon’s death, wife’s disappearance

Boston 25 News has obtained new emergency transmissions from the morning that veteran Worcester police officer Kurt Solomon was found dead and his wife, who has been charged with an arrest warrant, went missing.

“Resident stated there’s a male laid out in her backyard, unknown breathing,” a dispatcher said over Worcester police airways around 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday

Officers on scene can be heard describing the gruesome injuries to the victim. One officer also immediately added that there was blood inside the Wildwood Avenue house.

Around 5:50 a.m., 20 minutes after police were first called, the 911 dispatcher attempted to call back the number that first reported the incident. She could be heard informing officers that the voicemail stated that it belonged to a Karen Solomon.

Worcester Police Chief Paul Saucier said Friday they formally charged Karen Solomon on Wednesday, the day after her husband, Kurt Solomon, was found dead and she went missing.

Officials have said Karen Solomon should be considered armed and dangerous.

Investigators say surveillance video shows her last seen just before 6 a.m. Tuesday morning on Westcott Street, near her home on Wildwood Avenue.

Investigators once again scoured the area in and around Coes Pond on Friday as the search for the missing wife extended into a fourth day.

Kurt Solomon will be laid to rest next Wednesday, August 26, in Worcester at Our Lady of the Angels church on Main Street. The mass is at 11 a.m. He’ll be buried at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.

Family says he was a son, father and brother and that he proudly served in the U. S. Army in Germany before spending more than three decades in the Worcester Police Department.

The City of Worcester has also announced that both Stearns Tavern and Coes Pond Parks will be closed for the foreseeable future as part of the ongoing manhunt for Karen Solomon.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
