BOSTON — Even before appointments were added to the state’s vaccination website Thursday morning, digital waiting rooms were filled with people hoping to secure a spot for one of the 50,000 shots - and by 9:30 a.m, the state said nearly all of them have been filled.
The waiting rooms were part of improvements to the state’s vaccine scheduling website that Gov. Charlie Baker said was being rolled out after last Thursday’s rush crashed the site and left many seeing an orange octopus with an error message on their screens.
This Thursday brought waiting rooms to get into the state’s site, then another queue once you were able to select a site to book, then more waiting to actually book an appointment. Some wait times displayed days to eventually book.
With the @curative mass vaccination sites, you're told: ▪️estimated wait time, people ahead of you in line, and how many appointments are left.

▪️you can also leave your email and being notified when it's your turn in line.

Trying again to schedule #Massachusetts vaccine appointment for my mom. The digital waiting room is working. But the wait is long. We got into booking area around 7:30am, but all booked at the time.

Good luck out there. pic.twitter.com/wUZ23kuCE9
Thank you to everyone for sharing your experience & wait times trying to secure a vax appt.

Remember: waiting rooms don't guarantee an appt & only 50K appointments are available for the 1Mil people who are eligible.
Until we get more supply from the feds, this may be the way... pic.twitter.com/mLcsRDugGf
Around 9:30 a.m., the state said all of Thursday’s appointments were nearly filled and to try again next week.
Due to a severely limited vaccine supply and a large population of individuals eligible to get a vaccine, this week's ~50,000 appointments at mass vaccination sites across the Commonwealth are nearly all filled.
