BOSTON — One Boston Day events are taking place all across Boston as the city marks the 10th anniversary of Boston Marathon Bombings.

One Boston Day recognizes the resiliency, generosity, and strength demonstrated by the people of Boston and those around the world in response to the Boston Marathon bombing on April 15, 2013.

Three people were killed and more than 260 were injured when two pressure-cooker bombs went off at the marathon finish line on April 15, 2013. Among the dead were Lingzi Lu, a 23-year-old Boston University graduate student from China; Krystle Campbell, a 29-year-old restaurant manager from Medford, Massachusetts; and 8-year-old Martin Richard, who had gone to watch the marathon with his family.

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, who was making her first run for City Council when the bombing happened, joined families who lost loved ones to lay a wreath at memorial sites this morning. A brief ceremony will be held later in the day at the finish line of the marathon, where bells will ring followed by a moment of silence. Gov. Maura Healey and Mayor Wu will dedicate a new finish line and unveil a One Boston Day marker.

“Every year we come together on One Boston Day to remember the courage, strength, and resilience shown by our City’s people in 2013,” said Mayor Michelle Wu. “As we mark ten years, we will gather together in community on April 15 to remember the lives that were lost, the many injured, and the spirit of humanity displayed that day. As we honor those forever impacted, people in all corners of our City will be giving back in a number of ways and I encourage everyone to get involved.”

Today, we come together for volunteer events and acts of kindness in recognition of our City’s spirit of care for one another in response to the tragic events.
