NANTUCKET, Mass. — Beaches off Nantucket were closed temporarily on Sunday afternoon after a confirmed shark fin sighting, Nantucket Police and the island’s harbormaster said.
In tweets, town officials warned swimmers about the shark spotting, one day after swimmers were warned after shark sightings along the Cape Cod coast on Saturday.

Sharks were spotted in waters off Wellfleet and Truro on Saturday, leading to the temporarily closure of those waters to swimming.
On Sunday, the shark fin was spotted “at Nobadeer headed west towards Madaket beach,” Nantucket’s harbormaster said in a tweet.
Beaches were to be closed for at least two hours on Sunday afternoon.
