Swimmers warned after shark sightings along Cape Cod coast

WELLFLEET, Mass. — People flocking to some Cape Cod swimming areas on Saturday were advised not to go into the water for some time after sharks were spotted off Wellfleet and Truro.

The water at Cahoon Hollow in Wellfleet was closed to swimming until 5 p.m. Saturday “due to confirmed sighting of a white shark,” according to a tweet by @MA_Sharks, which tracks shark sightings along the Massachusetts coast.

A shark sighting at Head of the Meadow in Truro also led to waters being closed to swimming from 4:20 p.m. to 5:20 p.m., @MA_Sharks tweeted.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
