Will more CVS locations offering vaccine help people having trouble getting appointments?

BOSTON — CVS will now have 30 pharmacies on line to give out the COVID vaccine starting next week. That’s according to CVS pharmacist Vicki Saengkeune. But with more stores offering the vaccine, we wanted to know will more locations help people who are having trouble setting up appointments?

“Everyone who is eligible during this phase can register online via CVS.com or the CVS app. And for those who don’t have online capabilities they can call 1-800 SHOP CVS to register for their appointment,” said Saengkeune.

You don’t have to live in the city or town where the pharmacy is located or be a CVS customer. Anyone who registers can get a Covid vaccine at any locations that offers them.

And what about the 75 and older age group? Will more pharmacy locations make a difference in getting the vaccine to those who need it most?

“By now making it available at your local pharmacy, it will be a lot easier for this population to gain access to the vaccine. They’re the most vulnerable in our population so we want to make sure we protect them,” said Saengkeune.

But what about communities who feel they can’t find a location? Will more locations also help alleviate concerns that communities of color had limited access to vaccinations sites?

“Since they’re expanding it across more stores it will allow greater opportunity for these patients to gain access to the vaccine,” said Saengkeune.
