An Arkansas State trooper is recovering after he collided head-on with another driver.
The Arkansas State Police say Trooper 1st Class Roy Moomey, 41, was dispatched to investigate reports of a driver going the wrong way on highway I-40 on Aug. 8.
Police say the six-year veteran of the department collided head-on with the driver, trying to stop him.
Photos shared to Facebook show the mangled remains of Moomey’s patrol car. He was seriously injured in the crash.

The other driver, identified as Michael Choate, 24, was killed, the Arkansas Times reports.
Police say Moomey was trapped inside his car for over an hour as firefighters worked to free him. He was transported to a nearby hospital, and is now recovering from his injuries.
