The beloved pork-pressed barbecue sandwich has come and gone from McDonald’s menus for decades, but the wording on the restaurant’s website might suggest that the end is near for the McRib.
Once again, McDonald’s has announced that McRib has returned for a limited time with its familiar product description of the “seasoned boneless pork dipped in a tangy BBQ sauce, topped with slivered onions and dill pickles, all served on a toasted homestyle bun.”
What makes this year’s seasonal run different is wording not seen before on the website.

The product description page does not say when the McDonald’s sandwich will be back on menus, but according to The Hill, it’s expected to be on menus this week.

It’s unclear if this is a clever marketing ploy by the company, or the end of the sandwich with a cult-like following.
McRib lovers rejoiced in 2020 when McDonald’s reintroduced the sandwich nationwide after an eight-year hiatus.
The McRib first launched regionally in Kansas City, Kansas, in 1981 before making its national debut one year later. Since then, the sandwich has appeared on McDonald’s menus across the globe, including in Germany, New Zealand and France.
A website called the McRib Locator was created to help locate where the sandwiches have been spotted recently.
