Police: Group of kids assaulting, robbing people along Southwest Corridor park

BOSTON — A group of about 10 kids is responsible for a series of robberies along the Southwest Corridor Park near Jackson Square in Boston, according to police.

A Massachusetts State Police spokesperson says the children, who range in age from elementary school to teens, have been assaulting passersby in the area and stealing cell phones and other electronics.

BPD has increased their patrols in the Jackson Square and Southwest Corridor area. Police say they have responded to a number of similar incidents in Jamaica Plain recently.

State police say they are investigating the attacks and say pedestrians in the area should be aware of their surroundings at all times and not display electronics.

One cyclist says he was brutally attacked on Monday. That man, posting to Twitter, says he was jumped, had rocks thrown on him and was hit in the face.

Anyone who feels that his or her safety is threatened should call 911, as should anyone who observes suspicious people or activity.
