CAPE COD — The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy on Cape Cod announced that it has finished its field research for the current season.
In total, 49 sharks were tagged this season, with 39 acoustic tags and 10 customized animal tracking tags put out this year. Those tags were put into use over the course of 18 research trips conducted by the conservancy along with the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries.
Since the conservancy began tagging sharks, they have tagged a total of 279.
“Field season might be over but data analysis is an all-year project!” the conservancy said Friday.
