Missing UNH student was strangled, suffocated

The man accused of killing University of New Hampshire student Elizabeth Marriott was arraigned in a New Hampshire court Monday morning.

Prosecutors accuse Seth Mazzaglia, 29, of strangling and suffocating Marriott on Oct. 9. No other details about Marriott's death were released and all court documents were sealed.

The arraignment comes as crews continue to scour the area of Peirce Island in Portsmouth for Marriott's body.

Marriott disappeared on Oct. 9 after planning to meet up with friends in Dover.

A source said she was going to meet up with a woman named Kat, who is reportedly Mazzaglia's girlfriend and roommate. Investigators said Kat and Marriott met while working together at Target.

Mazzaglia is an actor and martial arts instructor. He was charged with second-degree murder in Marriott's death.

He was held without bail at Strafford County house of correction.
