Marshfield prepares for more severe weather

MARSHFIELD, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) - It was a washout in Marshfield Wednesday morning and with more weather coming in, there's a concern about high tides.

"My father built the house in 1938 and we survived everything," said Jack Jones.

Jones is used to the stormy seas and had a great view of Wednesday morning's snow.

"i have a cupola on top of my house and I was up there 3 o'clock this morning and the rain was pounding. The surf was pounding and it was very exciting," he said.

The January 2015 storm was less exciting and more nerve-racking. The high seas damaged a 40 to 50 foot section of the seawall.

Marshfield DPW Deputy Superintendent Shawn Patterson said their concern for this stretch of severe weather is the northeast winds. The DPW is trying to complete work on the damaged sea wall ahead of the threat of severe weather this weekend, with eyes on Hurricane Joaquin.

"Putting the battering boards back up around the seawalls that need to be secured and puling up a lot of the stairways that go down to the beach so they don't get destroyed by the weather," he said.

FOX25 will be tracking Joaquin and the severe weather to come. Follow @Fox25Weather for the latest.
