Man killed in multi-vehicle crash in Fall River

FALL RIVER, Mass. — State police are investigating after a man was killed in a multi-vehicle crash in Fall River early Tuesday morning.

The crash was reported around 5 a.m. on Route 24 south at Route 79.

When first responders arrived, they said they found a 2000 Acura 35R had struck the left travel lane guardrail and became disabled perpendicular to oncoming traffic in that lane.

State police said an SUV hit the disabled vehicle broadside and also became disabled in the left lane.

A van then rear-ended the SUV, which caused the van to roll over.

A male passenger in the SUV was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounce dead at the scene.
Her name has not yet been released.

Traffic was diverted off the highway while the crash was investigated and the road was closed.

It has since reopened.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police.

Massachusetts State Police initially said the victim was a woman, but later issued a correction saying the victim is an adult male. This story has been updated to reflect that correction.
