MARION, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A man has died after being pulled from the waters of Buzzards Bay in Marion.
The 65-year-old man, whose name has not yet been released, reportedly fell off his boat Sunday afternoon and was not wearing a life jacket at the time.
The Marion harbormaster said he heard the man's wife making a frantic distress call over the radio at around 1 p.m. When the man's wife and boat were located, she told officials her husband was attempting to fix a bumper on the boat, when a wave struck and he lost his balance.
The Coast Guard searched the waters and when a good Samaritan called them to tell them he found the man at around 2:30 p.m. Officials performed CPR and took the man to the hospital, but he could not be revived.
"This is just one of those cases that reinforces the importance of wearing life jackets," said US Coast Guard Petty Officer Douglas Mead.
