WORCESTER, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A Hardwick man has been arrested for attempting to steal an SUV with a child in the backseat.
Richard McBride pleaded not guilty to kidnapping and other charges in court on Tuesday .
Worcester police say that, around 4:40 p.m. on Monday, a father parked his SUV outside of a market and left it running with his seven-year-old daughter in the backseat. An officer nearby saw the car pull away with its driver side door open, and then saw the father chasing after the vehicle and screaming for help.
When the officer pulled over the SUV, the child jumped out and ran to her father crying.
