BOSTON — More charred mail was discovered inside a second collection box in Copley Square on Monday, USPS confirmed to Boston 25 News.
Boston Police said they responded to reports of damaged mail in Copley Square at around 5:45 p.m.
A mail carrier had discovered the mail inside the USPS mailbox was damaged by fire. That specific mailbox had been last emptied at around 4 p.m. on Saturday with no signs of damage, police said.
A spokesperson said the box discovered on Monday is in close proximity to another ballot drop box where a fire had happened on Sunday night.

According to officials, Worldy Armand, 39, of Boston, is being charged in connection with setting fire to the other ballot box on Sunday night, causing damage to 35 ballots that were inside. Officials did not say if both incidents are connected.
The Postal Inspection Service, Boston Police and the FBI continue to investigate these incidents.
