These are the most popular dog breeds in each Massachusetts city

Mass — Everyone knows that your own dog is from the best breed there is and no need to even look at this list.  However, who can resist seeing if your pup’s family is on the list?

According to a new study done by MyPetChild, the most searched dog breed in 6 out of 9 major cities in Massachusetts, including Worcester, Brockton, and Springfield is a Cane Corso.

The Cane Corso is an Italian breed of mastiff, whose lineage dates back to ancient Roman times, and whose name roughly translates from Latin to mean ‘Bodyguard Dog.’

The nickname for the dog is Corsi. Corsi’s lifespan is between 9 - 12 years, are typically muscular in frame and their protective nature makes them a great family dog, provided they are properly socialized.

The French Bulldog and Boxer also ranked among some of the most popular breeds in Massachusetts.

“Overall, across 328 major US cities, the most searched-for dog breed was found to be the Cane Corso, which came out top in 297 of the cities, the equivalent of 91% of cities overall,” MyPetChild said.

Here are the most searched breeds in the major Massachusetts cities:

Boston: Cane Corso

Brockton: Cane Corso

Cambridge: Shiba Inu

Lowell: Cane Corso

Lynn: French Bulldog

New Bedford: Cane Corso

Quincy: Shiba Inu

Springfield: Cane Corso

Worcester: Cane Corso
