‘Terrifying’: Panicked patients, workers react to sudden closure of all Compass Medical locations

EAST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. — Compass Medical has closed all its locations.

Patients and employees are now panicked about having to find another job or another primary care provider.

“We should have been given a heads up and patients should have been given a heads up, but I technically think this came down the pike so fast,” says a Compass Medical Employee who wants to remain anonymous.

The employee worked for Compass Medical in East Bridgewater as an administrative assistant. The employee says the end to their nearly three years at the hospital is devastating.

“Having the stability of getting up, going to work being with your friends and coworkers we were like a small little family,” says the Compass Medical Employee.

Compass Medical released a statement late Wednesday evening reading in part:

“After a steady stream of challenges, we were ultimately forced to make the devastating decision to close all offices of Compass Medical PC effective immediately. There is no good way to share this news. We are heartbroken and truly sorry as we know the unprecedented impact on our valued patients.”

“It is terrifying my husband has a chronic problem,” says Laurie, a Compass Medical Patient.

Laurie and her family are patients at Compass Medical in Taunton. She says her daughter needed a physical there as part of her dental school requirements.

“She just called me in a panic while she was working and said ‘Mom, they canceled my appointment.’ If someone wants to give my daughter a physical exam within the next 2 weeks, I would really appreciate it,” says Laurie.

Laurie is not the only one scrambling for last-minute medical arrangements. Susan Labonte is a patient at the East Bridgewater location shocked by what she found out Wednesday.

“I really felt comfortable with my doctor and now to start all over again I do not like change,” says Labonte.

As for what’s next for Compass Medical Employees…

“It is frustrating, but I take my life one day at a time,” says a Compass Medical Employee.
