Stoneham PD investigating after man allegedly tried to coerce 12-year-old into car Friday

STONEHAM, Mass. — Police in Stoneham are investigating after a 12-year-old girl reported to officers at the town’s police station that a man allegedly tried to get her to go into his car multiple times on Friday afternoon.

That suspect, who is described as a heavyset man in his 20s with short red hair and a red beard, allegedly yelled at the girl through his car window in an attempt to coerce her into the car. That man was wearing a white t-shirt at the time and was driving a small white sedan.

That girl immediately ran to the Stoneham Police Department where she informed officers of the incident, which took place on Main Street in the town around 4 p.m. Friday.

That man did not follow the girl and did not get out of his vehicle, police said. Law enforcement asks that anyone with information about the incident or who may have been in the area around that time to please call Stoneham PD at 781-438-1215.
