BERKLEY, Mass. — The Massachuetts State Police are investigating a fatal wrong-way crash that happened early Sunday morning in Berkley.
Authorities told Boston 25 News that at approximately 1:40 a.m. Sunday, a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer was traveling north on the southbound side of Route 24 before it struck a tractor-trailer near Exit 13.
Berkley EMS found the Chevy driver, Sara Paulo, 40, of Somerset, suffering from serious injuries sustained during the crash. She was determined dead at the scene. The tractor-trailer driver, a 35-year-old man from Santa Ana, Cal., was sent to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
The exact cause and circumstances of the crash remain under investigation by Troop D of the Massachusetts State Police along with the State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section, Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, and the State Police Detective Unit assigned to Bristol County.
