FOXBORO, Mass. — The New England Patriots have added WR Julian Edelman to the NFL’s COVID-19/Reserve list Monday. ESPN’s Field Yates was first to report the news shortly before 5pm Monday afternoon.

Edelman has missed time already this season after being placed on Injured Reserve at the end of October following a knee procedure.

The Patriots have had multiple issues with players and COVID-19 this season, as QB Cam Newton and CB Stephon Gilmore both tested positive for the coronavirus earlier in the fall, among a handful of other players throughout the season.

New England’s COVID-19 outbreak even forced the NFL to postpone their Week 4 game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Their following game against the Denver Broncos was also pushed back a full week to Week 6 after positive COVID-19 tests again forced the rescheduling.

The Patriots (5-6) are coming off of a 20-17 win over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday and are scheduled to face the Chargers in Los Angeles on Sunday, December 6; there has been no word yet on any potential change to the status of that game.
