NEWTON, Mass. — Update - 9:58 a.m. : Police say she has was found safe in Boston.

Police are searching for a missing 10-year-old girl who was last seen Friday morning at an MBTA station near her home in Newton.

Newton police said Clara Alfermann was last seen around 7:15 a.m. at the Waban MBTA station carrying a purple backpack after she left her home on her own. She was wearing a pink sweatshirt with a floral shirt over it and jeans, according to police.

Clara is about 90 lbs and 5 feet tall, with blondish/brown hair.
