Mother of missing NH girl speaks out at vigil: ‘Both MA and NH DCYF failed my daughter’

MANCHESTER, NH — The mother of 7-year-old Harmony Montgomery is speaking out as the search for the missing New Hampshire girl continues. Harmony was reported missing by police on New Year’s Eve, but Manchester police say she hasn’t been seen since 2019.

“Both Mass. and New Hampshire DCYF failed my daughter, 100 percent,” Crystal Sorey, Harmony’s mother, said. “We need new information, that’s what we need.”

Sorey lives in Lowell but was in Manchester Saturday night for a vigil in honor of her daughter. Speaking with reporters, Sorey said she has been concerned for her daughter’s well-being ever since she was placed in her father’s custody in 2019.

“When he got her, I told her [a friend], ‘this is bad, this is rubbing me the wrong way,’” Sorey said. “He never tried to meet me halfway, he never wanted to do any type of co-parenting for her. It was always what he could get out of having her, it was never for her. It was spite, out of spite.”

The vigil came on the same day investigators were back on Gilford St. in Manchester searching a home where Harmony was last known to live. Sorey said the last time she saw her daughter was on a FaceTime call in April 2019.

Since then, she said her relentless calls and voiced concerns have gone unanswered by authorities. Harmony’s father Adam Montgomery was arrested last week on charges alleging he abused his daughter. Adam Montgomery’s wife was also arrested. Harmony’s great uncle told Boston 25 News he saw Harmony with a black eye in July 2019 and reported it. Sorey is urging anyone who knows anything about her daughter’s disappearance to come forward. Until new information arrives, she said she won’t stop searching for her daughter.

“We’re going to bring her home,” Sorey said. “We’re never going to stop.”

Manchester police announced the reward for information in the case has grown to $94,000 thanks to several generous donations. Anyone with information is urged to call or text the 24-hour tip line dedicated to Harmony’s rescue at 603-203-6060.
