BRAINTREE, Mass. — A 40-year-old Middleborough man is facing charges after being arrested Wednesday for allegedly assaulting a Keolis Commuter Rail conductor over a mask dispute.
On Wednesday at approximately 5:20 p.m., Transit Police officers assigned to the South District responded to the Braintree MBTA Commuter Rail Station for a report of a male passenger assaulting a conductor after he was asked to put on a mask.
When officers arrived on scene, the conductor said he requested Daniel Libby, 40, of Middleborough, to put a mask on. Libby refused before he allegedly shoved the conductor and used his shoulder to force his way onto the train.
Officers then proceeded to tell Libby he needed to exit the train, but he refused to cooperate. He was later placed into custody for assault and battery on a public official and later sent to the Transit Police Department.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
