Matthew Potter found guilty in Quincy bar fight that killed local father Christopher McCallum (Boston 25 News)

QUINCY, Mass. — The man charged in the death of a local father has been found guilty of involuntary manslaughter.

Matthew Potter is accused of killing Christopher McCallum during a brawl outside the Quincy American Legion in 2019.

Prosecutors say Potter punched McCallum, causing him to fall and hit his head in the parking lot.

During closing arguments, the defense said prosecutors didn’t prove their case and claimed several witnesses lied.

A special prosecutor was brought in to handle the case because the District Attorney of Norfolk County is a member of the American Legion Post where the fight happened.

Potter was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter by wanton or reckless conduct and guilty of involuntary manslaughter by battery.

Potter was sentenced to three to four years in state prison.

He was found not guilty of indecent assault and battery and assault.
