TOPSFIELD, Mass. — First responders worked for over an hour to rescue a person entrapped inside a vehicle after striking a large tree in Topsfield on Tuesday.
Topsfield police responded to a serious motor vehicle crash on East Street just before 3:30 p.m.
When crews arrived they found one person sitting next to the vehicle as well as a passenger “heavily entrapped” inside the crushed car. Officials said additional ambulances were dispatched along with the Jaws of Life.
Due to the heavy damage to the vehicle pinning the passenger inside, firefighters, paramedics, and police officers worked for over an hour to free the passenger who had significant leg injuries.
The driver was transported to Beverly Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries while the passenger was Med Flighted to Beth Israel Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
The accident remains under investigation.
The victim’s identities have not been released at this time.
