Firefighters believe Fairhaven house was struck by lightning

FAIRHAVEN, Mass. — Firefighters in Fairhaven believe a home was struck by lightning as severe weather moved through the area Thursday morning.

A mother told Boston 25 News she was sitting on the couch with her young children when she heard a loud boom and then felt a tingling sensation throughout her body.

“I felt a pinch in the side of my neck a little bit and it was weird,” said Dana Rhodes.

She says she lost power for a few minutes and when she went to the basement she smelled smoke. She says everything is OK but she will probably be replacing some appliances.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
