WORCESTER, Mass. — Worcester firefighters worked to extinguish a 3rd alarm fire at a home in Worcester on Wednesday morning.
According to the Worcester Fire Chief, crews were called around 8 a.m. for reports of a structure fire on Hitchcock Road. Upon arrival, crews found the fire one street up on Freeland Street.
Firefighters were originally concerned that people were trapped inside, but everyone was able to get out safely and there are no injuries to report.
Worcester police are advising drivers to avoid the area of Main Street and Cambridge Street. The area from Main and Cambridge St to Canterbury at Fremont has been shut down.
Extra crews were called in to deal with the flames and also help deal with the frigid conditions.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
