DA identifies victim of deadly North Andover pedestrian crash

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. — Authorities have identified the woman killed in a pedestrian accident in North Andover on Sunday afternoon.

Angela Desmond, 47, of North Andover, was walking on a sidewalk along Massachusetts Avenue near Route 125 when a car jumped the curb and hit her, according to the Essex County DA’s Office.

Desmond was transported to Lawrence General Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

The driver stayed on scene and appeared to be very distraught, according to a neighbor who lives nearby.

“It was a random, terrible accident,” the neighbor said. “I feel badly for the woman and for the gentleman who did that.”

That driver is not being identified and it’s unclear if he will face any charges.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
