Pedestrian struck and killed in North Andover, DA says

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. — A pedestrian has died after being struck by a car in North Andover on Sunday afternoon, the district attorney said.

The victim’s identity was not released pending notification of next of kin.

The pedestrian was walking on a sidewalk along Massachusetts Avenue near Route 125 when the pedestrian was struck by a Honda Civic about 1:30 p.m., Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker said in a statement.

The pedestrian was taken by ambulance to Lawrence General Hospital and pronounced dead, Tucker said.

The driver remained at the scene.

Neighbor Lezlie Frazier told Boston 25 News she walks the same route often and couldn’t believe what happened.

“It has always been safe,” remarked Frazier. “It was just a really sad occurrence.”

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
