Company that leases Faneuil Hall put on eviction notice by the city

BOSTON — The company that leases Faneuil Hall Marketplace is on eviction notice after failing to make a $2.1 million payment to the city.

Ashkenazy Acquisition Corp. recently told marketplace tenants the company was refusing to forgive rent owed due to the pandemic and months-long business shut downs in the city.

Earlier in the year, the company agreed to defer merchant’s rent payment, but only for the months of April, May and June after pressure from city officials. Merchant say they still have no revenue coming in from the pandemic shutdown and have only seen a small amount of business return after they reopened in July.

New restrictions set by the state are now limiting businesses even more.
