BOSTON — The MBTA announced an upcoming suspension on July 15 to support tunnel improvements and station accessibility.
The Green Line will be closed between Government Center and Babcock Street (B), Government Center and Cleveland Circle (C), North Station and Kenmore (D) and North Station and Heath Street (E) starting Aug. 8.
Symphony Station remains closed ahead of the suspension to install major accessibility upgrades. The station will not reopen until spring 2029.
Work will continue to take place across stations as part of the Green Line C Branch Accessibility Improvements project.
Green Line C trains will bypass Summit Avenue until Aug. 7, and trains will not stop at Brandon Hall between Aug. 17 and Oct. 4.
Closures are intended to support the Green Line tunnel signal upgrades and the accessibility improvements on the C branch.
Riders using shuttle bus services should allow extra time for travel.
These free buses will operate between Babcock Street and Back Bay (B), Cleveland Circle and Back Bay (C) and Kenmore and Back Bay (D).
Route 39 will replace the E branch service between Heath Street and Back Bay. Extra buses will be added to accommodate higher capacity.
The nine-day closures are set to end on Aug. 16.
