Holy Cross bans all in-person activities through Wednesday amid COVID outbreak

WORCESTER — A COVID outbreak at Holy Cross has resulted in the school banning all in-person activities through at least next Wednesday.

More than 40 students have tested positive in the past week in the outbreak, traced traced to outdoor gatherings and Easter break travel.

More than 130 people have been placed in isolation.

All students are being told not to gather with anyone besides their roommates.

Mandatory COVID testing will take place Monday or Tuesday.

In a letter to the community, the school wrote: “We believe we are seeing the effects of the more-contagious COVID variants. We’ve noticed more close contacts converting to positive cases than earlier in the year. More students who test positive are also reporting more serious symptoms than in the past.”
