Franklin school's employee allegedly used improper restraints on student

FRANKLIN, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- An employee of Franklin Public Schools has been placed on administrative leave amid allegations that they used "improper restraints" on a student.

The Massachusetts Department of Children and Families confirmed to FOX25 that they first received a complaint about the allegations at Oak Street Elementary, and then launched an investigation.

Wednesday, DCF officials said they had referred the results of their investigation to the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office, though a spokesperson there declined to comment. According to a press release issued by the school district, officials were notified by DCF about allegations a staff member used "improper restraints" in the school.

District officials told FOX25 they have since put the teacher in question on paid administrative leave and have launched their own internal investigation into any potential violations of school policies and protocols.

"The district is fully cooperating with [the DCF] investigation," officials said in a statement. "We continue to remain committed to our efforts to ensure the physical and emotional well-being of our students."

District officials declined to provide any further details about the identity of the teacher involved, or their employment history with the district.
