A Fall River priest was placed on leave after complaints for "inappropriate communications" that he had sent to "several adult parishioners," according to a statement from the Fall River Diocese.
Father Mark R. Hession was placed on leave from active priestly ministry because of conduct that was "inconsistent with standards of ministerial behavior and in direct violation of the Code of Conduct" for priests in the diocese, the statement said.
Hession was previously assigned to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church until last August, when he was reassigned to the Diocesan Tribunal.

The decision was made by Fall River Bishop Edgar M. da Cunha, S.D.V., and the move prohibits Hession from exercising public ministry or presenting himself as a priest in public settings.
