REVERE — Massachusetts State Police and Revere Police are investigating a suspicious death in a house on Grandview Avenue in Revere that happened on Saturday night.
According to a release by the Suffolk County District Attorney, Revere Police and emergency medical personnel found a woman deceased in her home at around 3:30 p.m. A preliminary examination revealed signs of trauma on the body.
The victim has been identified as 30-year-old Vanessa MacCormack, a second-grade teacher at the Connery Elementary School in Lynn.
Lynn Public Schools issued a statement regarding the incident:
"Our school community is heartbroken. Vanessa was loved by students, parents and colleagues. She was involved in every aspect of the school and a great friend to everyone on the staff. She will be dearly missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family," Dr. Mary Dill, Principal of the William P. Connery Elementary School said in a statement.
Police have yet to determine the cause and manner of her death. No arrests have been made.
While the facts and circumstances do not immediately suggest a random incident, authorities say its still too early in the investigation to release any additional information.
As of Sunday evening, there was still no word on any possible suspects.
The sight of the crime scene tape and police cruisers put neighbors on high alert.
Neighbors say the people who lived in that house haven't been there for very long, and they're shocked to hear something like this happened on their quiet street.
"It's scary, especially if you don't know what's really going on," said Norma Tango, who lives nearby. "We don't know if someone is running around or...we don't know."
Adaline Mirabal-Camacho, another resident in the area, is worried about the incident because their community is very tight-knit. "We look out for each other, that's the neighborhood we have," she said.
State police and and the Suffolk County's DA will release more information after they conclude the investigation.
