Bullet, shell casing found inside Brookline High School classroom

BROOKLINE, Mass. — A teacher and student at Brookline High School found a bullet and shell casing inside a classroom Tuesday afternoon, according to a letter Headmaster Anthony Meyer sent home to families.

The teacher immediately notified school administration following the discovery around 2 p.m.

An investigation by administrators and the Brookline Police Department quickly identified which students had been in the classroom previously. They were then able to zero in on the student who was in possession of the bullet and shell casing.

Meyer said the student didn’t have a weapon and inadvertently brought the items to school. Police determined the student was in no way a threat. However, the student is being held accountable for his or her actions.

“While in the end there were not safety concerns, we take such situations very seriously and communicate openly with families so that you hear directly from the high school about matters like this,” Meyer said.

Anyone with questions is urged to contact Meyer directly.
