Broyles recovering from hit-and-run crash, eager to get back to US Senate campaign

TULSA — A hit-and-run crash in Oklahoma city has temporarily sidelined the Democrat running for US Senate against incumbent Oklahoma Sen. Jim Inhofe.

Charity Head, Deputy Communications Director for the Broyles campaign, tells KRMG the wreck occurred Saturday night.

“She was stopped at a light on the street and her light turned green, so she started moving and she was t-boned on her driver’s side before that driver took off and continued to drive, and left Abby at the scene,” Head told KRMG Monday.

A photo posted to Broyle’s Twitter feed indicates the impact was behind the driver’s seat.

Broyles was treated and released, but the campaign says she’s undergone “concussion protocols” and that doctors want her to rest while they monitor and assess any possible injuries.

KRMG spoke with Broyles less than a week ago to get an update on the campaign.

Head says the hardest thing for campaign staff at the moment is keeping the candidate from going back to work before she’s had a chance to recover.

In the meantime, she says, Broyles is “so grateful for the outpouring of support we’ve seen from across the state.”
