BROCKTON, Mass. - Police in Brockton are currently searching for two suspects they say assaulted and carjacked a restaurant employee.
According to investigators, the woman, an employee for Cafe Asia on Franklin Street, was making a food delivery when she was attacked.
The owner of Cafe Asia told Boston 25 News the woman has worked for him for nearly 15 years. The woman is well known in the neighborhood, which is why Brockton residents said they were shocked to learn she was the victim of such a violent robbery.
"I feel bad for her, she's a good kid," said Reid, a neighbor. "She was very excited, confused, didn't know what to do."
The woman's boss said someone called the restaurant on Wednesday night to place an order for delivery at 56 Boundary Circle. However, when the woman arrived to deliver the food, police said two men jumped out from behind the house, punched her in the eye and head, dragging her from her car and jumped in and sped away.
"One of my sons said he saw a cellphone back and forth in the car, apparently they were ordering something," said Reid.
While police were able to track down the woman's car on Wednesday night thanks to her LoJack security system, they say she's still recovering physically and mentally. Her employer said the woman also suffered a concussion.
The two robbers also took with them the food, her cellphone, and her wedding and engagement rings, which have not yet been found.
"One of my sons came down the driveway and told me to come outside quick," said Reid. "She was sitting there on the bumper of his truck crying. I think a lot of the incentive behind it is drugs, alcohol, whatever else they can get, money."
Police said the woman was taken to a local hospital and then transferred to Boston for treatment. They are calling it a targeted attack.
Investigators are still searching for the two men responsible for this attack, and are asking anyone with information to contact them.
