LYNN, Mass. — The victim whose burned body was found in a wooded area near a popular Lynn park was identified Saturday afternoon.
The Essex County District Attorney's Office announced that the victim had been positively identified as 29-year-old Tito Lopez-Ebanks of Lynn.
An autopsy is scheduled for the body, which was originally discovered Thursday afternoon in a wooded area in Lynn.
A dog walker was passing through the Frey Park area Thursday when they noticed the body. Police set up a major scene in the area as they began an investigation into the suspicious death.
The body was found in the woods, just up the hill from a baseball field in the back corner of the park. Friday, someone placed flowers next to a tree where the remains were found. Burn marks can be seen on the tree, but that was the only evidence Boston 25 News could find of a fire.
The Essex County DA, Essex State Police Detective Unit and Lynn Police are conducting the investigation, which is still ongoing.
Correction: Authorities had previously said Friday night the victim was a 19-year-old man. In a release Saturday afternoon, the Essex County DA's Office corrected the victim's age and confirmed his identity.
