A tour of Encore Boston Harbor, which is now just days from opening

EVERETT, Mass. — Encore Boston Harbor isnow just days from opening.

Boston 25 News spent some time at the resort today, seeing what developers are still doing to make it unique.

But we also found out how the casino is trying to move past some of the recent headlines.

It's our first look behind the front gates of Encore Boston Harbor, which opens in just weeks.

Resort President Bob DeSalvio has been here since Day 1 of construction.

He showed Boston 25 News where they're focused right now.

"We're now in the very, very final phases of finishing up the last details of the property," he said.

That includes everything from getting the silverware ready at the restaurants, to making sure the shops are stocked.

They're also finishing up with training for the 4,800 people hired.

Another 1,000 will be on board before opening.

The property is in pristine condition, setting up this picturesque setting called the Harbor Walk.

But in the wake of the scandal involving former owner Steve Wynn, and the $35 million fine that followed, can Encore shake the negative attention?

DeSalvio says they're focused on opening.

"We are here today, ready, willing and able to open this facility.  We think it will be a wonderful display of what we do," he said.

Recently Wynn Resorts was in talks with MGM to sell the Boston property.

DeSalvio says the property is not for sale.

"No that's done," he said. "We are very much focused on opening the property and can't wait to show it off to the public."
