MGM Springfield takes up three city blocks on Main Street with a six-story-high hotel with 250 guest rooms. The Presidential Suite is 1,600 square feet.

The casino also offers shopping, a banquet and meeting space and an outdoor plaza where they plan to have a weekly farmer's market. For children, there's a movie theater and a bowling alley.

"We wanted people to be able to walk in off of Main Street and have experience and if they chose to they can walk to the casino or some of the other parts of the resort," said President and CEO Mike Mathis.

The casino space itself is located on one floor, with more than 2,500 slot machines and the state's first gaming tables, which include Blackjack, Roulette and poker rooms.

There's even a food hall where you can order food and your waiter will find you using GPS.

"We're giving folks a reason to come back to Springfield to re-invest to take the capital that has been on the sidelines and put it to work and building our great city once again," said General Manager Alex Dixon.

MGM says it is creating more than 3,000 new jobs with many of those jobs available to people in western Massachusetts.

The resort opens Friday at 11 a.m.
