Scott McDonnell joined the Boston 25 News team as weekend anchor and reporter in October 2019. Returning to the Bay State is a homecoming for Scott. He grew up here and his parents still live in his childhood home in Upton.
Scott comes to Boston 25 from WTNH-TV, the ABC affiliate in Connecticut where he was the 6 p.m. news anchor. Scott was at the helm during nor’easters, flew with the coast guard in the search for Nathan Carman and his mother and rode along with WWII and Korean war veterans to the memorials in Washington D.C. for several Honor Flights.
Before that, Scott was a reporter and anchor in Kansas City at KMBC-TV and Orlando where he covered everything from tornadoes to tropical storms and hurricanes. He was in Florida during the 2012 Presidential election, where he followed candidates up and down the sunshine state.
He was also one of the first reporters covering the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.
When he’s not working, you can catch Scott on the water, he loves spending time on local lakes. Scott is a graduate of the Harrington School of Communications and Media at the University of Rhode Island. He looks forward to connecting with viewers in his community and on social media. If you have a story idea, he’d like to hear from you:
