Father of Patriots RB James White dies in serious car crash Sunday, mother in critical condition

SOUTH FLORIDA — James White was made inactive for New England’s Week 2 contest against the Seattle Seahawks after learning that both of his parents were involved in a serious car crash on Sunday. White’s father, Tyrone, died in the crash, according to the Director of the Miami-Dade Police Department.

Tyrone White was a captain with the department.

The Patriots RB took to social media on Tuesday to memorialize his father in an Instagram post that was also in celebration of his son Xzavier’s first birthday.

“I hope I can be as good of a father to you as my father was to my brother and I!” White wrote in the post. “I still can’t quite process everything that’s going on right now but when I look at you, you give me life! May you Rest In Peace Dad, we miss you much already. ❤️”

White’s mother remains in critical condition. The news was initially broken by Andy Slater of FOX Sports 640 South Florida.
