Big shakeup in High School Football Poll after pair of losses in Catholic Conference

DEDHAM, Mass. — Just two teams in the Boston 25 High School Football Top 10 Poll retained their rankings from a week ago after a pair of Catholic Conference rivals dropped their contests this past week.

No. 8 St. John’s Prep (6-2) fell from the fourth spot a week ago after a 35-28 loss to St. John’s Shrewsbury while No. 7 Xaverian (6-2) also dropped four spots from last week’s rankings following a 41-10 loss at the hands of top-ranked Catholic Memorial.

The Knights (8-0) unanimously held on to the No. 1 ranking once again after their big win over the Hawks this weekend. The Everett Crimson Tide (7-0) also retained their No. 2 ranking for yet another week after demolishing Malden, 43-0.

No. 3 Lincoln-Sudbury (7-0) jumped two spots in the rankings from No. 5 a week ago thanks, in part, to their 52-23 victory against Waltham. Behind them came another undefeated squad, the 7-0 Franklin Panthers. No. 4 Franklin shot up the rankings from No. 7 after a 13-3 win over Milford, who had previously earned a spot in the Top 10 earlier in October.

The Central Catholic Raiders (7-1) got a bump to No. 5 this week after defeating Barnstable, 38-21. No. 6 Reading (8-0) climbed two spots after being ranked eighth every week since Week 1; the Rockets blew out Winchester, 48-6, this past week.

No. 9 Marshfield (7-1) and No. 10 Marblehead (7-0) continue to flip-flop for yet another week, as the Rams crushed Plymouth North, 50-14, while the Magicians blanked Danvers, 34-0.
