Youth football league undefeated for two consecutive years

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. — A youth football team remains undefeated for two straight years after winning their division Super Bowl tonight.

The Wellesley Junior Raiders won their Bay State League Super Bowl in overtime, continuing their winning streak.

Two teams faced off Sunday night in a fight for the Bay State Division Super Bowl title, and the black team had a lot on the line.

"In a little bit of a rivalry, between Wellesley black and Wellesley white," said Shannon Conway, mother of one of the players.

The Wellesley Junior Raiders have gone undefeated for two years in a row, only letting up eight points in three years.

"All the other teams in this league, they don’t really make for a fair matchup so this probably one of the most interesting games we’ve ever been to," said Jackson Stephens.

It's more than just a football game, to some, its a family affair. Families were perched up on the bleachers to support their sons and brothers.

"We're a football family," said Shannon Conway.

"And I cheer for them, be aggressive, don't hurt yourself!" said Lillian Stephens.

The Junior Raiders went on to win the state championship last year, maintaining their perfect season. This year, they plan to do the same.

"These guys have played an unbelievable football game, we’ve played them a bunch before, they’ve gotten so much better, so this was a huge test," said head coach Rob Broggi.

According to Broggi, this was their toughest matchup yet. Neither team scored during the entire game, forcing them into overtime.

It came down to the last play of the game, but the black team was able to pull it off.

Keeping a perfect record to make the whole town proud, no matter which side you're on.

"The whole town of Wellesley was here for both sides but at the end of the day we’re all one town, one team," said Broggi. "These kids will all be playing with each other in high school, that’ll be a pretty good team."

Now that the Wellesley Junior Raiders won this game, they'll advance to the Mass State Championship game next week, hoping to stay undefeated.
