Witness transcripts from Cocoanut Grove fire published

(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - For the first time in 70 years, firsthand accounts of the deadly Cocoanut Grove nightclub fire have been published.
    
The Cocoanut Grove was a popular club in Downtown Boston that gained unfortunate fame when it burned to the ground in November of 1942.
    
The fast-moving flames killed 492 people. The blaze was fueled by paper decorations inside.
    
The accounts tell how the fire started when a 16-year-old bus boy who lit a match trying to replace a light bulb in the basement of the club. They

also detail how frantic people tried to run out, only to get stuck at the exits.
