West Nile Virus positive mosquitoes prompt spraying in Fall River

FALL RIVER (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – Health officials will be spraying areas in Fall River after West Nile Virus positive mosquitoes were found in a mosquito pool collected in the city's North End.

The spraying will begin in the areas around Oak Grove Cemetery on August 24 between 2 a.m. to 5 a.m. to prevent anyone from being affected by the virus.  The area around Kennedy Park will also be sprayed between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. on Friday, August 24 as a precaution for the events being held there.

"As a precaution, all residents who live in the area should keep their windows closed and refrain from going outside between the hours of 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. In addition, caregivers should ensure that children, elderly relatives, and friends as well as pets follow these guidelines," Fall River Mayor William Flanagan stated.
